CWR TRIM OPTIONS

Our versatile vinyl windows feature many trim options with advanced technologies and the finest materials, ensuring your new windows stay flawless and durable for years.

We can offer you custom finishing colors, and our standing options include wood stain finishes and classic or contemporary rosettes.

Casing Options

When we say window casing, we mean the window trim that serves both a design function and increases insulation.

Window casings are traditionally under 7 cm wide (2 5/8 inches), but the casings on vinyl windows can be as much as 8.6 cm (3 3/8 inches). So knowing how much space your windows will take on the walls inside is good.

Corner Options

We’re pleased to help you select the best corner options for your window projects. Just consult us.

JAMB SIZES

A jam extension connects a window frame to its casing. CWR offers you four standard jamb sizes, making your vinyl window installation as seamless as possible.
The jam size your project will need depends on wall construction and the dimensions of the hole where we fit the windows. There are also different jam sizes for specific window types and the thickness of the glass, as outlined by the manufacturer.

EXTERIOR BRICKMOULD

CWR’s brickmoulds are a durable, maintenance-free uPVC powder compound that withstands the harshest elements.
Your windows are protected outside this exterior brickmould, providing a barrier that prevents air or water from leaking outdoors to the inside. Our brickmoulds also come in a variety of finishes for outstanding curb appeal.

Window Features

  1. Our vinyl windows contain many internal air chambers. This feature means your home has the best insulation, thermal efficiency, durability, and noise control levels.
  2. uPVC jamb extensions are maintenance-free.
  3. The corner blocks and frame mouldings add flexibility to your interior finishes.
  4. When the corners of your vinyl windows get fusion-welded, the appearance is even more flawless, airtight, and watertight. Welding also means there’s no need for smelly adhesives or sealants, and the walls inside are also welded for more structural integrity.
  5. Glass unit windows are 13/16” thick overall. With CWR, you may also select a thickness and the kind of glazing, including single, double, triple, and Low-E glazing. We also offer decorative glazing ranging from 3/4” to 1-1/8”.

DESIGN GRILLES

Many homeowners are looking for design grilles in their window projects to add decorative beauty. CWR offers you many choices in grille patterns to match your style, or if you prefer, you can customize something.
Our best-selling window grille styles include Colonial and Prairie. Colonial grilles make tall and narrow windows appear wider. Prairie or Double Prairie grilles make beautiful decorative frames for large windows.

GRID STYLES

Our windows feature built-in grids between the panes of glass for durability and function. Here are the types of grids we offer:

Grids Between Glass (GBG)

GBGs are color-matched to the inside and outside of your windows, making the surfaces smooth, attractive, and easy to clean.

Exterior Grids

We install our color-matched exterior grids between the glass on the exterior of your windows. With outer grids, the inside of your windows maintains a smooth finish.
Simulated Divided Lites (SDL)

Our most upscale window grids are SDLs, and many homeowners choose SDLs for patio doors and windows to simulate several panes of built-in glass.

GRID TYPES

We offer four grip types in brass, pewter, or white finish:

  • Flat Grid

  • Sculptured Grid

  • Vintage Grid

  • Round Grid

GLASS OPTIONS

CLEAR GLASS

Our most affordable option is clear, double-paned windows to provide the most natural light and superior noise reduction over older, less functional single-pane windows.

LOW E-GLASS

A specially-engineered Low-E glass coating provides comfort all year. When more natural light comes through your new windows, Low-E lowers your home’s energy costs by minimizing temperature gains inside during warmer months.

TRIPLE GLASS

Our triple-pane windows are built to withstand the elements and hot sunlight coming through your new windows. In addition, if you add Low-E glass coating to triple-pane windows, it provides market-leading energy efficiency.

OPTIONS FOR INSTALLING WINDOWS

We know how well properly installed windows add to the longevity and function of your new windows. We are reliable, professional contractors with a proven track record and many happy customers.

You may want a full window replacement or other options. Our trusted company performs these types of installations to best suit your needs:

BRICK-TO-BRICK

  1. We totally remove old windows within the current framing.
  2. We give you the option of three brickmould sizes and accessories.
  3. You can upgrade the interior trim and jamb if you choose.
  4. This option is ideal for replacing damaged windows and solving poor insulation.

While brick-to-brick offers the best energy efficiency of the three options, here are the benefits of a retrofit.

RETROFIT

  1. We remove and replace the window sashes.
Your inside and outside trim and window frames stay intact.
  2. A retrofit is an excellent solution if your window frames are still adequately insulated and in good condition.
  3. You can upgrade with glazed windows for better performance and comfort.
  4. A retrofit window project is faster to complete and more affordable for most homeowners than a full window replacement.

Here’s what to expect with a stud-to-stud option.

STUD-TO-STUD

  1. We fully remove old windows up to the home’s framing.
  2. Your exterior windows receive a caulked finish or aluminum flashing.
  3. You can upgrade the interior trim and jambs if you wish.
  4. You also have the option to replace poorly insulated or damaged windows.

A stud-to-stud project offers greater energy efficiency and window performance than a typical retrofit.

CHOOSING NEW WINDOW MATERIAL THROUGH CWR

We make the process of selecting your new windows easier and more convenient. Here are three factors we ask our customers to think about during the selection process:

Climate

CWR installs windows that stand up to the Canadian cold, and we know how year-round climate can impact your windows.

To best withstand a Canadian climate, we suggested double-paned windows that are tightly sealed with the highest Energy-Star rating for your needs and budget.
A good example is CWR-installed double hung windows.

Architectural Style

Care should be taken with the style and finishes of a window project, mainly if you live in a century home. For instance, a Victorian-style home may have original wood siding and moulding that was popular then. New windows can mimic a wood finish, which is the best design look in this situation.

Budget

Most important to any home improvement project is your budget. CWR knows how costs can fluctuate with material and one window type to another. For example, if you love how wood windows look, it’s important to know that wood costs a lot more.

That’s why we install low-maintenance vinyl windows. You can get the finish of wood at a far more budget-friendly cost.

Replacement Picture Windows FAQs

Depending on the climate and conditions where you live, they can last up to 40 years old.

Your window replacement will be more successful if you do full window replacement. There is complete removal of the window frame and sash. Alternatively, during the retrofit, only the sash and associated components are replaced. Fewer materials and less labor are required, so it is a less expensive method.

With uPVC windows and doors, you can add security by using reinforced, galvanized steel multiple-chamber locking systems. Additionally, uPVC material has a BAL-40 fire rating. As much as 70% of noise pollution can be absorbed by the glass in uPVC windows. Moreover, energy efficiency ratings mean you can save up to 40% on your heating and cooling bills! It is possible to recycle and upcycle materials made with uPVC at least ten times.

Your windows will be less likely to accumulate condensation with triple glazing. In noisy areas, triple glazing reduces noise pollution significantly. Since double glazing has a higher u value than walls and doors, it can cause cold spots in the house.

The cost of Picture windows installation will vary depending on the size of the window, the type of single slider being installed, and the location.

Generally, you can expect to pay somewhere between $299-$1200 per window for installation costs if you live in a major area like Toronto or Ontario.
